Cundinamarca, un departamento colombiano reconocido por su belleza natural y diversidad cultural, alberga un tesoro natural único: los bosques nublados de la Sabana Occidente de Bogotá. Estos ecosistemas, caracterizados por su niebla constante y su exuberante vegetación, ofrecen una experiencia de senderismo sin igual para los amantes de la naturaleza.

¿Qué hace tan especial el senderismo en los bosques nublados de la Sabana Occidente de Bogotá?
Son bosques húmedos, espesos y exuberantes que se han ido regenerando de a poco de la constante perturbación humana sufrida desde la época de la conquista y colonia, cuando los paisajes indómitos del altiplano Cundiboyacense fueron convertidos en asentamientos urbanos y lugares para la ganadería y la agricultura. Los bosques de niebla quedaron relegados a islas o parches que aún conservan gran diversidad de plantas, hongos, vertebrados e invertebrados. Estos bosques hacen parte de la misma formación montañosa: El escarpe occidental de la sabana que atraviesa 17 municipios desde el Salto del Tequendama hasta el Cerro Manjui. Hoy en día, tiene una figura de protección que impide talar y construir vivienda, razón por la cuál se ha venido recuperando de a poco el ecosistema.
El Cerro Manjui en Facatativá
La montaña más emblemática de Facatativá y de la región, ya que pone el límite entre Zipacón, Facatativá, Albán y Anolaima. En él es posible realizar dos rutas de senderismo, una por el camino real de zipacón y otra por el camino real de Anolaima. Las dos rutas conectaron antiguamente a Santa Fe de Bogotá con el río Magdalena. En ambas rutas es posible observar paisajes bellísimos de toda la sabana y caminar a través de bosques de niebla, hacer avistamiento de aves y entretenerse tomando fotografías a las flores y curiosos hongos.
La Cascada El Velo en Bojacá
El tesoro oculto de la montaña, una imponente caída de agua de 50 metros que brota de los peñascos y que recoge toda la humedad de los bosques húmedos que hay en su parte superior. El recorrido inicia en el casco urbano de Bojacá y sigue el camino real de la vereda Roble Hueco. En determinado momento empieza un descenso frenético donde el bosque envuelve a los caminantes y la luz se reduce hasta en un 50%. El ambiente se hace misterioso y el sonido del agua y las aves toma protagonismo. Es un recorrido de 10Km unidireccional de nivel básico, se hace en 4 o 5 horas y se termina en el punto de la carretera entre Mosquera y Tena conocido como «el plan de la arepa».
La Laguna verde en Zipacón
Una laguna escondida entre los quebrados bosques de niebla de Zipacón. Es un recorrido de 11Km que empieza en el parque principal y sigue la trayectoria del camino real junto a los caminos de servidumbre. Es posible observar gran variedad de coloridas aves y mariposas. Al llegar a la laguna, es posible notar que su acceso es restringido debido a que se encuentra en un proceso de restauración ecológica, sin embargo, desde afuera es posible tomar fotografías y sentir la paz del lugar. El recorrido finaliza en el sector de «La Capilla», muy cerca a El Ocaso.

- Planifica tu ruta: Antes de iniciar tu aventura, asegúrate de planificar tu ruta y verificar las condiciones climáticas.
- Lleva ropa y calzado adecuado: Usa ropa cómoda e impermeable, y calzado adecuado para senderismo.
- Hidrátate adecuadamente: Lleva suficiente agua para tu recorrido.
- Respeta el medio ambiente: No dejes basura en el sendero y respeta la flora y fauna del bosque.
